Central African Republic: political dialogue opens without opposition
In the Central African Republic, republican dialogue opened this Monday morning, long promised by President Touadéra, but ultimately taking place without the main political opponents. The latter announced their withdrawal in a statement this Sunday, March 20, 2022, asserting that their demands, namely the inclusion of armed groups and the inclusion on the agenda of the post-electoral crisis, had not been satisfied.

It is without the leading figures of the opposition that dialogue began this Monday morning in the hemicycle of the National Assembly. Several hundred people were present: members of government, deputies, diplomats... There were also former presidents Michel Djotodia and Catherine Samba-Panza, former warlord Abdoulaye Hissène.
The president of the preparatory committee, Minister of State Obed Namsio, said he regretted the opposition's absence. Apart from two representatives in the presidium and despite the "outstretched hand of the head of state". "The door is always open" he said.
"This is not a dialogue too many, but another chance for peace", declared President Touadéra. Before giving the starting signal with a bell for three days of work in committee and then three days of debate.
The topics to be addressed will be very broad. The organizers' objective is to end the crisis and restore peace, without however specifying what concrete measures, hoping that a solution will emerge from the discussions.
