Privacy policy
Data collected
We collect your email only when you sign up for the newsletter, create an account, donate, or subscribe to a license. No information is collected without an explicit action on your part.
Cookies and analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, which deploys no tracking cookies and does no individual profiling. Aggregate statistics (page views, source, duration) help us understand our regional readerships. No data is shared with third parties for advertising.
Newsletter
When you subscribe, your address is stored in our database and at our delivery provider (Resend). You may unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of every email.
Accounts
When you create an account, we store your email and display name. No behavioural data is tied to your identifier. You may delete your account on request at confidentialite@lejournal.africa.
Citizen tips
Tips submitted via the eye-witness form are stored in our database. If you provide your email, we keep it to follow up; otherwise the tip remains anonymous.
Retention
Account data is kept while the account is active. Donation records are kept for 7 years for accounting reasons. Newsletter subscriptions are deleted on unsubscribe.
